MOTD: Copper Smokey Eye + Nude Lippie

This makeup look was inspired by YouTube Beauty Guru Jaclyn Hill and her old school favorite eyeshadow- MAC’s Coppering.

I have had this eyeshadow in my collection for quite a while, but I never got around to creating an eye look with it-so here it is!

Keep reading for a full list of products that I used AND to see more pics of this look, follow my Instagram @marinaleebeauty! ❤️

  • I used the Wet N Wild PhotoFocus eyeshadow primer
  • I used scotch tape to create a sharp winged effect with the eyeshadows.
  • I used the Tarte Tarteist Pro palette for the transition shades and to deepen up the crease, but any medium brown, dark brown, and black eyeshadows will do.
  • I packed the MAC eyeshadow in Coppering all over my lid using a flat concealer brush. I also sprayed my brush with a little bit of setting spray after picking up the shadow to intensify the color.
  • I removed the tape and applied a pair of the Kiss Shy lashes.
  • I blended the same brown shades I used in the crease on my bottom lashline.

  • Primed my skin using my Murad Oil Control Mattifier
  • For foundation, I used the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation in creamwhip
  • For concealer I used the Tarte Shape Tape in light/medium
  • I set my concealer and face makeup with the RCMA No Color powder
  • For bronzer, I used the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer
  • Contoured with the sculpt shade from the Tarteist Pro Glow palette
  • The highlighter I used is Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop

  • Lightly filled in my brows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in dark brown
  • For lips, I lined them using the Essence lip liner in Natural. Then, I dabbed on a little bit of the Maybelline lipstick in Blushing Beige and applied the NYX Buter Gloss in Fortune Cookie overtop.

Hot Product of the Week!

This week’s hot product is the PUR Cosmetics Elevation mini highlight palette! This is a gorgeous little palette that comes with 3 beautiful shades, mirror, and a mini fan brush for only $15.

The shades Boost and Altitude are great highlights and the shade Upgrade is more of coral with gold reflects and makes an amazing blush topper. For $15, I think this palette is a really great value, especially for a higher end brand like PUR. I bought mine at Ulta and I am not sure if they can be found at Sephora as well or if this is a permanent product.

The product itself is very pigmented and not too powdery. It is buildable, but for me personally these highlights give the right amount of glow without having to build it up too much. The fan brush is an added bonus, but to me it is too flimsy to blend out my highlight well enough. But I do use it to contour my nose and I actually really like how it looks!

My December Ipsy Glam Bag!

I am really happy with the products I received in my Ipsy bag this month! The only product I didn’t like was the knock-off Beauty Blender (not pictured) and I gave it to a friend. I also think the faux fur bag is adorable!

Keep reading to see a more detailed review of what I thought of each product!

Hanalei Lip Treatment- this stuff is pretty much a kicked up version of Aquafor, but I love it! It smells like coconut and tastes pretty good too, not gonna lie 😊. It has a really thick consistency and does a great job of moisturizing my really dry and chapped lips (thanks to the colder weather). A little bit goes a long way, so this little sample will last a while.

The Balm’s Mad Lash Black mascara- I only tried out this mascara once, but I really liked it and it did a pretty good job of adding length and volume to my lashes without clumping them together. I don’t think I would go out of my way to purchase the full size product (I just love my drugstore mascaras), but it’s a good product and I will continue to use the sample!

City Color Be Matte Blush palette- I am so glad that I received this little mini blush palette in my bag! I love all the colors and they are nicely pigmented without being too powdery. I love how small and compact it is, so I can throw it in a little makeup bag and still have three good blush options.

Tarte Maracuja Oil- I have been wanting to try this oil for the longest time, but just didn’t want to spend the money on it. This is the product that I was most excited to receive in my glam bag and I can’t wait to use it on a regular basis. It is a clear, thin oil so it can easily be mixed with foundation or other cream makeup products. For me, it is really hydrating without being too greasy and soaks into my skin really nicely.

MintPear Beauty Blending Sponge (not pictured)-unfortunately,  this was the most disappointing product I received in my bag. I wanted to use it to apply my foundation today and when I went to dampen it, it did not expand and remained extremely dense and firm. I didn’t even bother using it because I knew it would not work for me, so I gave it to a friend before I remembered I needed to take a picture!

Red & Green Christmas Glam

I’m back with another Christmas makeup look, except this time I stuck with the traditional red and green color scheme. I used a few new products in creating this look so keep scrolling to see what’s new!

I hope y’all enjoy this makeup look and have a Merry Christmas!!

  • I applied the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk all over my eyelids to act as a base for the green shadow. Doing this will help intensify the pigment of any eyeshadow.
  • I only really used one eyeshadow for this entire look- the darkest green shade from my Morphe 35B palette (but any deep green shade will work). I packed it onto my eyelid and blended it upward into the crease.
  • The glitter liner is from NYX in the shade Glam Lagoon. I bought this eyeliner specifically with this makeup look in mind and I am in love with it! It is really pigmented and easy to apply.
  • Lastly, I just applied a pair of the Kiss lashes in the style Shy (what’s new lol) and then blended that same green eyeshadow on my bottom lashline.

  • I mixed some of my Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation with a little bit of the EX1 Invisiwear foundation and applied this with a damp beauty blender sponge.
  • For concealer I used a new favorite, the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. This product has been raved about since it first launched and it really is amazing!
  • I set my face makeup and concealer with the RCMA No Color powder.
  • I contoured using the Sculpt shade from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow palette and bronzed using Benefit Hoola bronzer.
  • For blush, I went with a neutral shade since the eyes and lips are so bold. I used Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed.
  • I highlighted using the PUR cosmetics Elevation Mini Highlighter Palette (this little palette is inexpensive but absolutely amazing + comes with a little fan brush!).

  • For brows, I filled them in using the ABH Brow Wiz in dark brown.
  • The lipstick I am wearing is from Wet N Wild and it is in the shade Cinnamon Spice.

MOTD: Soft Purple Smokey Eye + Pumpkin Lippie

This look incorporates color, but it is toned down enough to be wearable in the daytime or nighttime.

For the eyes, I used the purple shades from the Morphe 35B palette and focused on created a soft wash of color rather than building up the intensity. I also smoked out a darker purple on the top and bottom lashline to make my eye color stand out more.

The lipstick is a new matte shade from Maybelline in the shade Raw Chocolate and I am obsessed with it! I don’t own any other shade quite like this one and I think the warm orange undertones go really well with the eye makeup.

My face makeup and routine is pretty much the same as in my other MOTD posts, so be sure to check them out to see more details!

  • Primed using the Rommel Stay Matte primer
  • For foundation, I used the Maybelline Better Skin foundation and mixed the shades Nude Beige and Warm Beige
  • To brighten the under Eye area and other high points of my face, I used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in sand
  • I set my entire face with the RCMA No Color powder
  • I used the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer to warm up my complexion and then contoured using the sculpt shade from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow highlight and contour palette
  • For blush, I used the Maybelline Master Highlight blush/highlight in Mauve
  • For highlighter, I applied a combination of the shades lit, fire, and strobe from the same Tarteist Pro Glow palette

  • I primed my eyes using the same Maybelline concealer I used on my face
  • I used the shade Soft Brown from MAC (the individual pans are only $6!) as my transition shade and then deepened it up using Swiss Chocolate from MAC as well.
  • On the putter corner, I used Bitten eyeshadow from Makeup Geek.
  • I applied the eyeshadow shade “the grammy goes glammy” (lol) from Essence all over my lid.
  • Next, I created a dramatic winged liner using the Essence waterproof liquid eyeliner pen
  • I applied a pair of Kiss lashes in the style Shy (my favorite lashes ever!)
  • On the bottom lashline, I used the same Bitten eyeshadow and then applied a coat of mascara on my bottom lashes. I lined my waterline using the L’Oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner

  • I wanted my brows to be a little bit more bold for this look, so I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade in medium brown
  • Lastly, my lip color is the NYX Intense Butter Gloss in the shade Chocolate Apple

Hot Products of the Week!

Since I didn’t post a hot Product last week, I decided to talk about two that I have been loving this week AND they are extremely inexpensive!

The first product I have been loving is the Coverall Cream Foundation from Wet N Wild. I got this for $4 from my local drugstore and because of the low price, I was kind of afraid to try this foundation because I was worried that it would make me break out or just look unflattering on the skin. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful this foundation looks and that it didn’t bother my skin at all! It has a natural matte finish and gives a good medium coverage, but it is buildable. The consistency is pretty thick, (if you tilt your hand it won’t run down), so I was expecting this to be really heavy and cakey, but it actually blends out really nicely. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a high end foundation, or even a L’Oreal foundation, this one is less than $5 and is a fanatastic product.

The next product I have been loving this week is the Essence I Love Extreme Volume mascara (waterproof). This mascara is really great if you want to add natural-looking volume to your lashes and it can also work as a lengething mascara as well. It does not make your lashes look clumpy, doesn’t flake, and holds the curl really well. Even though it is a waterproof formula, it comes off pretty easily with a makeup removing oil. This mascara is great and the fact that it’s less than $5 makes it even better!

Neutral Smokey Eye + Deep Berry Lips

I decided to whip out my Tarte Tarteist Pro eyeshadow palette once again and create this dramatic smokey eye, focusing on the neutral brown shades in the palette.
