Smokey Black & Violet Halo Eyes

I was inspired by makeup artist Linda Hallberg, yet again, to recreate this black and violet smokey halo eye look. This is not an exact replication of Linda’s makeup, just my own more wearable take on it!

Keep scrolling to see pics of my recreation as well as a full list of products used!

(pictured above: Lina Hallberg’s look)

Products Used:

EYES

  • MAC eyeshadow in Soft Brown as a transition shade
  • NYX medium deep purple shade in the crease (sorry I do not remember the name of the shade because I depotted it from its packaging, but any shade will work!)
  • Tarte “Onyx” (matte black) eyeshadow from the Clay Play palette on the inner and outter corners of my eyes. I blended this shade slightly into the crease with the NYX purple eyeshadow I mentioned earlier.
  • Applied MAC eyeshadow in Star Violet (metallic pinky-brown plum shade) to the center of my eyelids using my finger.
  • Blended out the edges with a little bit of the black shadow so that there were no harsh lines
  • Applied a pair of Kiss Blooming lashes

  • Wet N Wild Photo Focus foundation in shade bronze beige
  • Tarte Shape Tape concealer in light sand
  • NYX HD Finishing Powder (pressed) in banana to set the concealer

Tarte Clay Play Face Sculpting Palette (Review + Makeup Look)

I have seen this palette all over YouTube and Instagram recently and was drawn to it because it seemed like something that could be a new go-to in my makeup collection.

If you would like to know my thoughts on this new Tarte palette, keep scrolling!

The Clay Play Face Sculpting Palette (retails for $46, but I used a 20% off coupon at Ulta) is one of Tarte’s latest launches this summer. After seeing it pop up so many times on YouTube and hearing all the wonderful reviews on it, I decided to pick it up and try it out for myself.

I hesitated purchasing this palette at first because the shades really aren’t anything special, however I love the fact that this all-matte palette can be so versitile and all the neutral shades you could ever need are all in one place. I like how I could do my eyes, contour, bronzer, and even brows all with just this one palette. The versatility also makes this great for traveling or just on-the-go touch ups throughout the day. The palette isn’t too bulky and comes with a good sized mirror as well.

The formula of the shades is absolutely amazing. I am a huge fan of the Tarte Tarteist Pro eyeshadow palette because the shadows have a very creamy texture and are also extremely pigmented. In my opinion, the formula of the Clay Play palette is no different, if not better. The shadows are very buttery to the touch and do not produce a lot of powder fall out. In addition to their amazing pigmentation, I find that the shadows and contour shades are very easy to blend.

Overall, do I think this palette is worth the money? Well, that depends. There are already tons of palettes that have these same neutral shades and at this point, almost very makeup lover probably has their own favorite contour palette. What makes this palette worth it to me is the amazing quality of the product, as well as the convenience and versatility the palette offers. I definitely see this as being the one palette I bring with me when I do not have access to my entire makeup collection because everything I need is in one palette.

I hope this review was helpful! Let me know if you have any more questions about what I think of this product!

Dramatic Smokey Cat Eyes (Kim Kardashian Makeup Look)

Kim KW’s infamous makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, posted the photo below of an intense cat-eye look he created on Kim and I was instantly inspired to recreate it! I typically don’t do a lot of cat-eye/ winged liner looks, but I loved this photo and wanted to try something different.

MOTD: Halo Eyes & Bronzed Skin (feat. the Morphe 35O Palette)

I brought back a cult favorite to create this halo eye look- the iconic Morphe 35O eyeshadow palette. I paired this eye look with a pinky nude lip color to keep the focus on the eye makeup.

Keep scrolling for more pics and a full list of products that I used to create this whole look! I also included a picture of the palette, identifying which colors I used.

EYES

  • Applied Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadow in the shade “Bill” as a transition shade.
  • Applied the light purple shade from the Carli Bybel x BH Cosmetics Deluxe Edition palette in the crease and then the darker purple shade from the palette in the outer corner to deepen the look.
  • I used a couple of purple shades from the Morphe 35B palette to add more dimension to the eyes, but just sticking with a medium and dark purple shadow will work.
  • I applied the Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in “LaLa” to the inner half of my eyes.
  • Used the Urban Decay eyeshadow in “Midnight Cowboy” to the inner corners of my eyes. I brought this shade down to the inner part of my lower lashline as well.

  • I used the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer and Maybelline Fit Me concealer under my eyes to brighten/ cover up any darkness.
  • I contoured/ bronzed using the cream contour shade from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow palette and set this using the contour shade from the Wet N Wild contour/highlighting duo in Dulce De Leche.

MOTD: Copper Smokey Eye + Nude Lippie

This makeup look was inspired by YouTube Beauty Guru Jaclyn Hill and her old school favorite eyeshadow- MAC’s Coppering.

I have had this eyeshadow in my collection for quite a while, but I never got around to creating an eye look with it-so here it is!

Keep reading for a full list of products that I used AND to see more pics of this look, follow my Instagram @marinaleebeauty! ❤️

EYES

  • I used the Wet N Wild PhotoFocus eyeshadow primer
  • I used scotch tape to create a sharp winged effect with the eyeshadows.
  • I used the Tarte Tarteist Pro palette for the transition shades and to deepen up the crease, but any medium brown, dark brown, and black eyeshadows will do.
  • I packed the MAC eyeshadow in Coppering all over my lid using a flat concealer brush. I also sprayed my brush with a little bit of setting spray after picking up the shadow to intensify the color.
  • I removed the tape and applied a pair of the Kiss Shy lashes.
  • I blended the same brown shades I used in the crease on my bottom lashline.

FACE

  • Primed my skin using my Murad Oil Control Mattifier
  • For foundation, I used the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation in creamwhip
  • For concealer I used the Tarte Shape Tape in light/medium
  • I set my concealer and face makeup with the RCMA No Color powder
  • For bronzer, I used the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer
  • Contoured with the sculpt shade from the Tarteist Pro Glow palette
  • The highlighter I used is Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop

BROWS & LIPS

  • Lightly filled in my brows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in dark brown

EYES

  • I applied the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk all over my eyelids to act as a base for the green shadow. Doing this will help intensify the pigment of any eyeshadow.
  • I only really used one eyeshadow for this entire look- the darkest green shade from my Morphe 35B palette (but any deep green shade will work). I packed it onto my eyelid and blended it upward into the crease.
  • The glitter liner is from NYX in the shade Glam Lagoon. I bought this eyeliner specifically with this makeup look in mind and I am in love with it! It is really pigmented and easy to apply.
  • Lastly, I just applied a pair of the Kiss lashes in the style Shy (what’s new lol) and then blended that same green eyeshadow on my bottom lashline.

FACE

  • I mixed some of my Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation with a little bit of the EX1 Invisiwear foundation and applied this with a damp beauty blender sponge.
  • For concealer I used a new favorite, the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. This product has been raved about since it first launched and it really is amazing!
  • I set my face makeup and concealer with the RCMA No Color powder.
  • I contoured using the Sculpt shade from the Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow palette and bronzed using Benefit Hoola bronzer.
  • For blush, I went with a neutral shade since the eyes and lips are so bold. I used Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed.
  • I highlighted using the PUR cosmetics Elevation Mini Highlighter Palette (this little palette is inexpensive but absolutely amazing + comes with a little fan brush!).

BROWS & LIPS

  • For brows, I filled them in using the ABH Brow Wiz in dark brown.
  • The lipstick I am wearing is from Wet N Wild and it is in the shade Cinnamon Spice.
